背景及工作內容
拓展公共空間於2011年由一班青年人成立，為一非牟利的慈善機構。本會希望透過學術研究、宣傳及教育活動，把公共空間的知識帶進社會各階層，從而使香港市民更了解公共空間的意義及重要性。
透過我們一系列精心策劃的工作計劃，我們期望香港市民對公共空間的理解會大大提高，以鼓勵市民更好地利用公共空間這些寶貴的城市資產。我們深信公共空間能連繫社區、滿足市民休閒需要及鼓勵社會互動，從而令香港更能可持續地發展。我們盼望有活力的公共空間能使香港不但成為一個更美好的生活城市，亦能成為吸引遊客及外籍人士選擇工作或定居的目的地。
Hong Kong Public Space Initiative (HKPSI)
Mission
1) To raise Hong Kong people’s awareness of public spaces and their benefits through providing information and a platform for ideas exchange
2) To advance education on public spaces through contributing to academic studies
Description
Realizing that Hong Kong people are generally unaware of the benefits of public spaces, a group of young people founded the Hong Kong Public Space Initiative (HKPSI), a non-profit charitable organization, in 2011. Through research, promotion and educational events, we strive to bring the knowledge of public space to the public realm, enabling people to understand its significant values.
With a series of carefully planned programs, we aim to enhance the community’s understanding of public spaces, and therefore encourage better use of such a valuable asset. Believing public spaces can enhance the city’s sustainability through bonding populations, fulfilling recreational needs and encouraging social interactions, HKPSI aspires to make Hong Kong a better living city for residents as well as an attractive destination for tourists and expatriates.
